Where is Crookham Hall?

In this short video, I take you on a tour of some of the Hampshire locations featured in Death at Crookham Hall, including the Four Seasons Hotel on the Dogmersfield estate, Blacksmith's Bridge, Basingstoke Canal, and Fleet Pond.

Where is Waldenmere Lake?

In this short video, I show you some of the locations around Fleet Pond in Hampshire featured in Murder at Waldenmere Lake. It was great fun to make the video despite the constant interruptions of coots, geese, moorhens, swans, ducks and passing trains!

Where is Carnival Bridge?

I had great fun making this short video describing the Hampshire locations featured in The Body at Carnival Bridge. (Yes, I bribed the ducks with duck food pellets!)

Where is Smugglers Cove?

My father’s side of the family comes from Exeter in Devon, and I’ve been visiting the city, and Dawlish and Dawlish Warren, since I was a child.

I've always wanted to set a novel in this area, and I finally achieved it with A Killing at Smugglers Cove. I had great fun writing about places that are so familiar to me - this won't be Iris's last visit to Devon!

Let me take you on a tour of some of the locations featured in the book.

The Horrors of Suffragette Hunger Strikes

In a recent talk, I explained why the suffragettes went on hunger strike and how it became a turning point for their cause. When newspapers reported on the horrors of force-feeding taking place in prisons, it caused outrage. For the first time, public opinion began to turn in favour of the suffragettes.

Suffragist versus Suffragette

In a recent talk, I described how the word suffragette came to define the suffrage movement. Originally coined as a derogatory term by a Daily Mail reporter, the suffragettes claimed it and made it their own.
